Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) Update
To be licensed in Massachusetts, passing scores on the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) are required. All candidates must pass the Communication and Literacy subtest of the MTEL prior to transfer to a four-year school and at least one appropriate subject matter knowledge test generally taken during the junior or senior year of the Bachelor's Degree.
The Center for Careers in Teaching sponsors an MTEL preparation workshop for MCC students, which is held on campus. Effectively prepare for the test by reviewing test-taking strategies, learning ways to reduce test anxiety, studying intensive review exercises and practicing using sample tests. The textbook is provided.
The following Department of Education website provides information about the MTEL and the dates it is being offered: http://www.mtel.nesinc.com/MA11_testdates.asp
