Organizing meetings, trade shows, conferences or special events for a large corporation requires many special skills and abilities. MCC's Meeting and Event Management Certificate Program will give you the practical skills and knowledge to successfully plan, organize, manage, promote and evaluate meetings and events. Students will get an overview of the many sectors of the meeting and event planning industry. Courses are taught in both lecture and applied formats so that students gain real-world experience while in the program. Career opportunities include work in corporate event management, exposition and tradeshow management, convention and conference work, visitors bureaus, catering, venue sales, wedding planning and vendor representation. Topics covered include common components of managing and planning well-executed meetings and events: selection of appropriate sites, pre-event publicity and marketing,
audio-visual technology, budgeting, negotiation and contracts, program design, catering, and special event management.

Understanding every thing from menu planning, marketing, space management and all of the essential internal and external relationships of the day to day planning for events at a large hotel.

About the Instructor
Andrea Flaherty is an Event and Marketing Manager at PennWell Corporation, a business-to-business publishing and events company. With more than 12 years in the events industry, Andrea has organized and managed trade shows, conferences, and seminars in various high tech industries all over the world, including Europe, Asia, and throughout the United States. Her expertise ranges from managing one-day, focused workshops for 50 attendees to three-day international trade shows with more than 20,000 attendees. Andrea is also a member of the Board of Directors for the New England Chapter of the International Association of Exhibition Management (IAEM). Andrea received a Master’s Degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
